Formula MAHINDRA: Leading India's "E" Revolution
SERIES: GREEN ENERGY
EDITION 1/10
#Mahindra #EPrix #BusinessWatch #BazaarMoney

Mahindra a name as famous as TATA in India but the Indian mindset would question to compare with European compatriots Audi, BMW or Mercedes. Though Mahindra Racing is not a new venture and has been around for more than 6 years, very few in India knows about the oversea accomplishments of Mahindra.
Let's delve into how Mahindra is giving Audi and Mercedes a run for their money.
WHAT IS MAHINDRA RACING?

Founded in the year 2014, #MahindraRacing is the
only Indian Team and a founding team of the Formula E championship,
also known as the #EPrix. It is the only Formula E team to be awarded the FIA Environmental Accreditation Two Star rating.
Let us take a look at the achievement of this team headquartered in the United Kingdom.

Mahindra Racing has been able to build from one strength to another and finally achieved the goal of
First #EPrix Podium in the 2017 edition of the Las Vegas eRace
grabbing 2 podium places. However the elusive Win came 6 months later in June 2017 where
Felix Rosenqvist won and Nick Heidfield followed in 3rd Position.
MAHINDRA & EPRIX!
#EPrix was founded in the year 2013 with the novel idea of creating a world class race alternate to the Formula-1 but entirely based on renewable technology and all cars powered by Electricity instead of fossil fuel.
Back in 2013 there were more detractors than participants for the #EPrix idea and Mahindra was one of the first teams to enter the competition. Mahindra as we know is a company based on forward thinking and has always successfully bet on the future of every industry they have taken a keep interest on.
Currently there are 12 teams in the EPrix championship and Mahindra came 3rd in 2017 and 4th in 2018 in the team standings. Which is no mean feat when you are competing against the likes of Audi, Nissan, BMW and Jaguar. In 2020 the team has struggled with a new drive train and currently stands in the 10th position.
RELEVANCE TO INDIA
Races like the Formula 1, Formula 2, Le Mans and others have primarily been used as a test bench by car manufacturers. The technology used in race cars are generally 2 to 3 years ahead of the commercial car market and the race teams have perfect combination of talent and focus on improving available tech, where a small time variance of 0.500 seconds can mean loss of pole position.
Further, with majority of car manufacturers now part of the #EPrix we have seen a shift in car design 2 seasons back. The Gen-2 cars are capable of going upto 250 km/hr and considering that the race has been around for less than a decade it is safe to say that very soon the #EPrix cars would be at par with Formula 1 cars.
With #MahindraRacing being involved since inception, the Mahindra commercial car manufacturing division in India has everything to gain from this. As we have seen with the introduction of the Mahindra-Verito-Electric version way before the arrival of electric cars from other Indian car manufacturers.
